FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION
Children normally receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time during school Year 3. They make the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time shortly before their First Communion.
The Parishes of Holy Trinity and Sacred Heart have a First Communion and Reconciliation programme which involves children, parents, teachers and catechists.
All children are invited to attend an enrolment Mass at Holy Trinity. Throughout the year, the children and their parents will attend special liturgies, either at Holy Trinity or Sacred Heart.
There are three parents' meetings throughout the year which all parents are asked to attend.
Instruction for these Sacraments takes place in two ways:
a) Children at St. Mary's Primary School - instruction takes place for children in Year 3 who wish to make their First Communion. Older children at St Mary's (Yrs 4 - 6) who have not yet made their First Communion for whatever reason receive instruction at school separately by the Parish Catechist.
b) Children at other schools. -instruction takes place on Saturday mornings (2 hr session) from September until the end of May. Children must be baptised Catholics and in School Yr 3 or above. (If your child is not baptised, click here) These classes are at Coolock, (part of Convent on Stubbs Gate) and are conducted by the parish catechist. Please contact either Father Philip (01782 616483), Deacon Neil Adlington (01782 624325) or Barbara Davies (01782 635410)
First Holy Communions will take place in May 2012 (dates to be confirmed) Saturday morning preparation classes this year (2011 - 2012) will start on Saturday 1st October 9.30 - 11.30 am A full list of dates (enrolment Mass, special liturgies, parents' meetings ) will be posted here when available.
