The topics covered are :

Mary & the Saints                           The Church

Catholic Principles                            Parish Life

As well as examining Catholic teaching on all the above topics, you will have the opportunity to meet with other practising Catholics and discuss what you are learning, join us in our worship, and have the opportunity to discuss your situation and your faith on a one-to-one basis if you wish.

You will have the time, over several weeks,  to pray and discern what God wants of you, and you will not be pressurised in any way.

You will begin to feel part of the Catholic community, and will meet people who will support and encourage you in your faith journey.

You will have an enjoyable evening out, in pleasant, welcoming surroundings, with tea, coffee, stimulating discussion and friendly faces.

Who is the Programme For?

The Adult Instruction programme is suitable for you if :

  •  You are considering becoming a Catholic.

  •  You are a practising Catholic but would like to learn more about your faith

  •             (Try this quiz   to see just how how knowledgeable you are! - warning - it's very difficult!).

  •  You are a lapsed Catholic who wants to return to the practice of your faith

  •  You have many questions about what the Catholic Church believes.

  •  You are a non-Catholic whose Catholic child is preparing for First Communion

  •  You are a non-Catholic who is married to a Catholic, and wants to know more

  •  You are a Catholic who feels hurt, confused or rejected by the Church.

  •  You have recently had a child baptised and could do with some basic instruction.

  •  You are a practising Catholic and would like to come and support others on the programme.

  •  You are simply curious about the Catholic Church.

Everyone is welcome to come along  to all or some of the sessions. For those wishing to be received into the Catholic Church, you will need to show that you have attended all the sessions (if possible).  Such a decision would not be made until after the first ten sessions.

If you do decide, you will be involved in a process called RCIA, where your request to enter the Catholic Church  involves the Presentation of the Candidates to the Archbishop at the Cathedral in Lent. Reception into the Church, with baptism if necessary, takes place at Easter.
